Old Country Snowflakes

I love the clean, simple, cheery look of this card. The snowflakes have the slightest touch of glitter on them, as if the colors and sweet patterns weren't enough to catch my eye.

This card is also my entry for the latest Moxie Fab World challenge. Cath has the best inpiration photos, so even if you're not a die hard paper crafter, stop on by!

For the Bride and Groom

I have to laugh because - looking at this card - I should have had in finished in less than five minutes. It took an hour of tinkering with this and that until I decided to let the bride and groom (via their initials) take center stage.

That's their present in the background. So cliche - a toaster. But, hey, every family needs one. :) Congratulations to the happy couple!

Brighton Plays Along

Y'all know I love my cardmaking kiddo. So when the fresh Sivitri Wilder started letting her own cute kiddo host sketch challenges, I had to tell Brighton. What's unique about Ms. M's sketches is that (A) they're sketched by a child, (B) both grown-ups and children are encouraged to play along, and (C) there are separate prizes just for the kids. How cute!

Brighton passed on the first few challenges (in the mood for Transformers over cardstock), but today he bit.

If you click on the original sketch, you'll notice Brighton took considerable creative license. Obviously we're not in it for the prize. This was his first time playing along with any challenge. I'm not sure how much Brighton grasps the concept of a sketch challenge vs. he just got going and went off in a different direction - LOL. He started with the stripe of ribbon on top...OK. Then wanted to add buttons like Ms. M. ... OK. And from there I think he got an idea in his head and away he went! Part of the fun of crafting with kids is watching their little minds work, and since I'm a proud Mommy no matter what, I just have to laugh.

P.S. Sorry about the bad picture. It's overcast today, so not much sun, but Brighton really wanted me to go ahead and post his card - so proud!

Brighton's Gift Pouch

My young artist has been wanting a pouch in which to keep the little gifts he makes for people. Apparently some gifts are for giving and some are for keeping. *smile*

I also used the opportunity to play along with an Embellish color challenge. I used a scrabook kit to make the envelope, so the colors aren't a perfect match. Hopefully they're still in the spirit of things - it's fun simply to play along.



I didn't use any adhesive on the back flap so Brighton can open and close it as many times as he wishes. That little tab reads "creativity at its best" - this proud momma totally agrees. :)

Under the Mistletoe

I got to play with the first of my freebies from the Helen Dardick collection. I think these kissing reindeer are too cute! And shaping the card into a circle reminds me of a Christmas ornament. (Though it does tend to roll sideways.)

We're visiting family for Thanksgiving and celebrating an early Christmas while we're there. Between the shopping and preparations, I'm soaking up all things Christmas right now. Enjoy your day!

Christmas Time is {almost} Here

In CraftLand, this is the peak of the Christmas season. I have gifts to make for each of my boys, plus it's time to start whipping up the family Christmas card.

If you're looking for ideas to make your own cards, I love this paper from Making Memories. I think of it as a Christmas damask, and the poinsettias are flocked in such a rich red. Plus if you're looking to mass-produce cards, it doesn't get much easier than this!

The total cost for the papers works out to about 35 cents per card. Add the ribbon and brad, and the card tops a dollar. But you could certainly tie the ribbon into an elegant bow instead of using a brad. (Though that brad is cute, isn't it?)

Lucky Me

The giveaway gods are smiling down. One of my card challenge entries won a set of prizes from the i {heart} papers birthday bash. Plus my Ghoulies arrived, courtesy of Cards magazine. {doing the happy dance} Look what arrived on my doorstep.

Soft, snuggly, timeless, you-just-gotta-touch-'em crochet flowers. I see these as the focal point of some sweet, feminine, simple cards.


A honkin' big chunk of chipboard. Card front? Done.


Cards to pack as happy surprises in the lunchbox? Done. Or maybe cards for the teacher.


And just in time for Christmas...rub-ons and ginormous chipboard. These will make a dozen cards, easily.


I'll have to think on these chipboard shoes and bags. We do have several girls Brighton likes to make cards for...


These Woolies are the reason I entered the card challenge contest in the first place. I {heart} felt!


Remember this card? Yep, that's the same little tree. At $5 a pack, I was thrilled to have more Woolie love.


Now I just have to find time to play with it all. :)
